Overview

Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, also known as Keoladeo National Park, is a protected area located in the state of Rajasthan, India. It was declared a national park in 1982 and was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1985.

The sanctuary covers an area of approximately 29 square kilometers and is home to over 370 species of birds, including both resident and migratory birds. Some of the notable bird species found here include the Siberian crane, greater spotted eagle, and black-necked stork.
Apart from birds, the sanctuary is also home to a variety of other wildlife, including deer, wild boars, and pythons. The park is situated around the Keoladeo temple, which dates back to the 18th century and is a popular tourist attraction.

Visitors can explore the sanctuary on foot or by bicycle, and there are also rickshaw rides available. The best time to visit the sanctuary is from October to February, when the migratory birds arrive.

Tour Itinerary

Your journey begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Delhi. Travel comfortably in a private air-conditioned vehicle to Bharatpur (approximately 225 km / 4.5 hours).

Upon arrival, meet your professional English-speaking naturalist guide and begin your visit to the world-famous Keoladeo National Park, formerly known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.

Explore the park on foot, by cycle rickshaw, or bicycle (optional). Observe a remarkable variety of resident and migratory birds including Painted Storks, Pelicans, Egrets, Kingfishers, Herons, Eagles, Flamingos, and many other species depending on the season. Your naturalist will share fascinating insights into the park’s ecosystem, wildlife, and conservation efforts.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Bharatpur (at your own expense).

Spend additional time exploring the sanctuary’s peaceful wetlands and forests. Apart from birds, you may also spot Nilgai (Blue Bull), Sambar Deer, Wild Boar, Jackals, Pythons, and numerous butterfly species.

After completing your visit, begin your comfortable drive back to Delhi.

Arrive in Delhi and transfer back to your hotel, concluding your memorable wildlife excursion.
